After adding an FTP site to "computer" in spatial naut, it also appears on the desktop. I only want it appears next to cd-rom, filesystem and network when I click on "computer" and not there AND the desktop.
Suggestions? _________________ *Fortitudo, aequitas, fidelitas.* |

This may sound a little "no duh", and if that's the case I apologise . If you delete it from the desktop, does it go away in the "computer "? _________________ Gentoo...it's like wiping your ass with silk. Or sandpaper. |

Hehe, it's not a dumb question. Yes, it's the first thing I did. You can unmount it from the desktop but that also unmounts it from "Computer". You cannot delete it, only unmount it. Now, oddly enough they can each have different custom icons and changing the look of one does nothing to the other..but it you unmount it in one place it goes in the other. I just don't want or need copies of everything thing I mount from this point on also appearing on my desktop. _________________ *Fortitudo, aequitas, fidelitas.* |

That's really wierd. Perhaps it's a bug? Maybe the Gnome developers thought you should have 2 copies of it? _________________ Gentoo...it's like wiping your ass with silk. Or sandpaper. |

Well, I'm thinking there may be an option to show mounted volumes on the desktop..but I don't know where that is. _________________ *Fortitudo, aequitas, fidelitas.* |

Ugh, it gets weirder or I'm not understanding how this works. I've tried going into the Network folder and creating a link to the above mentioned ftp there, my thinking being that link would then appear when I click into the network folder. No dice. Not only does it still create a desktop link, it also creates the other link under computer and NOT network. I'm at a loss. _________________ *Fortitudo, aequitas, fidelitas.* |

Really wierd. I would say you may want to submit a bug report at this point...I would think that it would show up in network too if it does all that other stuff. _________________ Gentoo...it's like wiping your ass with silk. Or sandpaper. |

Hmm. I'm hoping to get confirmation from others that this is in fact NOT the correct behavior and that they also are experiencing it. _________________ *Fortitudo, aequitas, fidelitas.* |

I am still on Gnome 2.4, but it does this for me too. Anytime I mount a network filesystem, it adds a icon on the desktop. I can just click on it and hit delete and it will go away though.
Is this the same thing you are talking about? Or something different? |

Same thing, but I cannot delete it, only unmount the volume which also unmounts it under "Computer". _________________ *Fortitudo, aequitas, fidelitas.* |

I checked http://bugzilla.gnome.org for a bug, and I found bug #138930 which sounds like a temporary solution your original problem. Seems there are some patches in cvs... |

Cool, then it's *not* just me. I wonder if they know about the creating volumes under network displays them under Computer behaviour? _________________ *Fortitudo, aequitas, fidelitas.* |

I'm not sure if it is a "problem"... network:/// is specifically for autodetection. When I go in there, it typically shows me every smb computer on my lan. computer:/// is specifically for showing mounted volumes which servers as such are. I know, it seems stupid at first but I'm sure theres a few long discussions in the email lists about it. _________________ Real men use every GAIM protocol. |

Hmm, it makes sense in that context, but without that knowledge it seems off. No matter I suppose, once they patch the option to turn off volumes displayed on the desktop, it will be moot. _________________ *Fortitudo, aequitas, fidelitas.* |
