I installed Gentoo on my fairly new computer, dual Opteron based, followed the installation guide almost down to every character.
But when booting up, it stops att checking filesystems with the following error:
fsck.ext2: No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/BOOT
/dev/BOOT
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem....
Fsck could not correct all errors, manual repair needed
So I went with the suggested command 'e2fsck -b 8139 <device> (/dev/hda1) but it didn't help much.
What have I done wrong? |

You didn't edit /etc/fstab. See the handbook on how to do it, especially you've got to edit e.g. /dev/ROOT to /dev/hda1 if hda1 is your / partition. Same for BOOT, SWAP.
Consider searching next time, this is one of the most done mistakes. |
