here's my dilemna, I've searched and searched, read and read and maybe I'm just not getting it but this is what I want to do
I have a pop3 account from my isp
and a hotmail account
all i need to do is this
fetch my mail from these 2 sources, possibly more later on, and push them to my .maildir directory in order to set up a web based and imap server on my home based server
at a later time or even now I wouldn't mind setting up spam filters but that can be later
from my understanding this can be accomplished by these methods ?
ISP/hotmail > fetchmail > postfix > .maildir > courier-imap > email client/squirrel-mail
or ?
ISP/hotmail > fetchmail > procmail > .maildir > courier-imap > email client/squirrel-mail
please lmk if i'm missing something and or specific settings/steps i need to make sure of
Thanks,
Abirinder
P.S., i'm trying to set this up as I just got a job on residence and it is very heavily email dependent and I would like a place for permanent storage of emails |

For the second time today I am going to promote this link https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=83500
I have used this on my home server and again as a server for family. Fetchmail grabs mail from about 5 POP2 boxes, Exim pipes through SpamAssassin and ClamAV and then delivers to user's .maildir and users collect via Courier-imap or Courier-pop3. If you have POP3 access for hotmail then it should be simple enough to add to Fetchmail. I have not tried squirrel-mail but a search in these forums should bring up help with configuring that. _________________ Currently playing with Applescript ... hmmm |
