|
|
Reading through the docs trying to figure this out. I dont want to act as a print server. I just want to print directly to a laserjet 5s1.
Is the only way to do this to setup a 'local' samba printer then point all local jobs at my local smaba server?
Seems kinda bassackwards. I could swear ive setup direct ip printing before.
Thanks for the help. |

ok i figured it out. the gentoo printing howto could really use additional info IMO.
vim /etc/cups/printers.conf
Code: |
<DefaultPrinter lj5si>
Info HP LaserJet 5Si
DeviceURI socket://10.1.1.11
State Idle
Accepting Yes
JobSheets none none
QuotaPeriod 0
PageLimit 0
KLimit 0
</Printer>

that prints directly to the printer. its pretty damn slow though. does anyone know how to speed this up?
*edit* ok, just kidding about the slowness. i guess just the KDE test page takes awhile to spool up. it spools up everything else as fast ass i expected . |
