I'm looking for a good solid video card for my pentium IV machine.
I want to play Unreal Tournament 2004 on it and it has to work with the 2.6 kernel and I would prefer something that works straight away without too much tweaking and patching,
any suggestions? |

Since ATI cards dont run so good on linux nvidias is your best bet.
The rest really depends on how deep your pockets are...
I would recommend a FX5900U or FX5950U. |

I totally agree with blueworm. I've got good experiences with NVidia drivers. |

If you can find one buy a FX5900 XT. realy cheap and realy good performance. Nvidia has however stopped to make them since they got a to large marketshare compared to their other cards (that probably has a higher profit margin for nvidia). But if you can find one of those 5900 XT's, buy it. It is cheap and fast, just a underclocked regular 5900 but for a much lower price. |
