|
|
emerge world -Up is showing a grub update
Code: | [ebuild U ] sys-boot/grub-0.94-r1 [0.93.20030118]
|
I read somewhere that grub has changed their grub.conf file to something else.
Is this still the case?
I guess I'm asking is, is all I need to do is emerge it. Or is there something else to do |

I just emerged the new grub 0.94 and had no difficulties at all. I checked grub.conf.sample and I didn't notice any differences from my previous setup. I kept my fingers crossed, rebooted -- and it worked.
Just to be on the safe side, I reinstalled grub into the MBR using grub-install:
Code: | grub-install --root-directory=/boot /dev/hdg |
PS: Previously, grub.conf was named menu.lst -- maybe that was in the back of your mind somewhere? |

thanks, I just installed it yet, but haven't restarted, have an uptime of 23 days :p
I think its back to menu.1st as its a simlink to grub.conf |

I thought the symlink was there for backwards compatibility after changing to grub.conf, not the other way around...
edit: Yeah! I finally got rid of n00b-status... |

my 10 second research indicates it use to be menu.lst then grub.conf now back to menu.lst
The verison I had prior to this didn't have that symlink
in anycase it should work |
