Hi :)

Quote:
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1056:(snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p failed: Device or resource busy

** WARNING **: alsa_setup(): Failed to open pcm device (hw:0,0): Device or resource busy

But i can hear the KDE sounds when closing,opening... a window etc.

You are probably using arts with kde, which reserves the sound. Under xmms preferences select arts driver as the output plugin (emerge if not existing). Also try experiment with the other output plugins.

Strenge
You can try
Code:
lsof | grep pcmC0D0p

to see which processes use this device

If you have not lsof
so
Code:
emerge lsof

it is a quite good peace of software and I think that it can help you in many cases.

thanks, disabling the arts server worked, and lsof is really nice when you dont know which program uses for example the cdrom when trying to unmount it :)
