I found hotPOP which looks nice and I have no problem recieving mail from its POP server, which it says is pop.hotpop.com, but I am unable to send an email (it says its smtp server is also pop.hotpop.com) It says "connecting to pop.hotpop.com has failed". I have this same problem with vfemail, so I think I'm doing something wrong. I have the ports for POP 110 and SMTP 25. I also have it set for no secure connection, which both vfemail and hotpop say to do. What in the world am I doing wrong? _________________ Registered Linux user #398059! |

smtp servers almost never allow mail to be sent from other networks, cause this will create an "open relay", often used by spammers...
You'll have to use you're providers one, or create one yourself by emerging postfix.
Some providers also block port 25 at the gateway... Try doing a tcpping to port 25 from a computer in another network |

nah, I use hotpop as well, the smtp server starts with smtp.*, not pop.*
mine: smtp.punkass.com (punkass belongs to hotpop) _________________ Non fa male! Non fa male! |
