I tried "livecd-2.6_11-29-2003" but it did not seen to have a desktop...
And what are the directions to get to the correct file(e.g. releases>x86>) |

Go to www.gentoo.org, get gentoo, go the the bottom and click on the mirrors, pick one, then go to /releases/x86/2004.0/livecd/pentium4 or different penium if you don't have a pen4. Have you read the install instructions, and desktop docs yet? _________________ I think that the forums are the greatest thing about Gentoo, thanks to everyone that posts on them!

At /releases/x86/2004.0/livecd/ can I pick x86 or Universal?
And does "livecd-2.6_11-29-2003" have desktop? How do I load it? |

I would assume that you can use universal, x86, or choose the pentium that you have. To get a desktop you have to install Gentoo then emerge a window manager. Gentoo is a very involved system to install. You really should look at the docs before you get started. _________________ I think that the forums are the greatest thing about Gentoo, thanks to everyone that posts on them!

There is a version called livecd..
Can the live cd version have a desktop, like KDE?
Where are these desktop docs? |

The live cd doen't have kde or anything. It is just something to let you install Gentoo. You need to install gentoo before the desktop docs matter to you.
Someone tell me if I am wrong about not having Gentoo on a CD with a WM _________________ I think that the forums are the greatest thing about Gentoo, thanks to everyone that posts on them!

I know that you can install with Knoppix and the like, so I would assume that you can install Gentoo with whatever you want. _________________ I think that the forums are the greatest thing about Gentoo, thanks to everyone that posts on them!
