Hi!
My laptop's (Compaq Presario 2100 serie) fan screams all the time. I've read a few threads about it but almost all of them consider problems with kernel version 2.6.x. So, the fan is on all the time, when idle or when on load.
Button, processor, fan, thermal, battery and ac modules are loaded but the fan doesn't give any feedback like:
Code: | #acpi -V
Battery 1: charging, 100%
Thermal 1: ok, 44.0 degrees C
AC Adapter 1: on-line |
I'm not sure if there even should be any information about fan but in /proc/acpi/fan/ should be some info?
Cheers! |

I don't have any info about my fan, too, but it keeps quiet most the time when I enable some power management techniques like speedstepping. speedfreq can help a lot here (or cpudyn, I think speedfreq is only for 2.6) if your laptop supports it. _________________ KDE |
