I'm currently using famous "qmail + vpopmail + SA + clamav + courier-imap" setup on our Gentoo and non-Gentoo servers, and quite happy with it.
However, I'm currently looking at exim (I've been using it for a while about 2 years ago), as it appears to be more flexible.
I have seen a lot of HOWTOs (the qmailtoaster, life with qmail, qmail + vpopmail, postfix + cyradm [sql]), but I could not find anything like that for exim.
What I'm looking for is some simple setup with virus/spam [clamav/SA] scanning, Maildir support (for courier-imap), SMTP-AUTH, TLS/SSL [optional] and without use of any SQL database - prefer to keep things in simple files to lookup users in for delivery/SMTP auth.
Is there any? Something like qmailtoaster, but for exim.

Though I haven't tried it (I use postfix), among my bookmarks I found this exim tutorial, which looks like it covers at least some of what you're looking for, and is gentoo-specific, too. |
