In windows Xp I'm on 1024 * 768 by 32 bit colors

thats the absolute max the screen can handle.

that display isn't that crappy :P

anyway - here is how I have configured my refreshrates on my laptop:
Code:
Section "Monitor"
    Identifier  "My Monitor"
    HorizSync   31.5 - 48.5
    VertRefresh 50-70
EndSection

this gives me 1024x768 @ 60-70 Hz (I don't know really, but it works fine on every lcd I have)

In my defence:
My previous laptop was an Armada p3 1.0Ghz and it had an "enlarged" display. The display wasn't the size of the laptop but it was bigger and (affcource) came as an option when buying the laptop. It supported 1280 by 1024 or something like that. Maybe even higher... I don't remember

Anyway thanx for the advice. I will probbably test it this weekend (as soon as I get my [censored]...[/censored] Radeon 9800 working on 3d)
