Ok... So here's the deal... ever since I have installed linux on my Acer Travelmate 630, I have never had an issue with the kernel properly powering off the laptop after it's rang through it's halt process. Unfortunately as of Kernel 2.6.2 this no longer happens and all I see is a line stating "Power Off"... I did notice that in 2.6.2 there were a few ACPI / APM updates but none of them refered to any issues related to this... I am currently running 2.6.5 and I'm still having this issue ... (In previous kernels 2.6.1, 2.6.0 & 2.4.* if I enabled all of the extra features of APM, it would work correctly... I have tried this on the 2.6.2+ and it doesn't correct the issue)...
Another question I have, which is unrelated, is if there is anything I can do about ACPI not reporting the discharge rate of my battery... I get a designed capacity, and current capacity, but no discarge rate... Unfortunately it does appear as if most battery monitors use this rate to determine how much time I have left as almost all monitors report 0 time left, but a battery capacity of 70%... (something to that effect)...
Suggestions on both of these? I did a few searches but never found anything relating to my issues... |
