I'm running gentoo-amd64 and have reinstalled my whole system and am running gnome-2.6 now.
However, both rhythmbox-0.6.8 and totem refuse to play/start
rhythmbox complains: Failed to create mad element
However, gst-plugins-mad is installed
totem complains (wouldn't even start): ** (totem:4104): WARNING **: No GConf default audio sink key and osssink doesn't work
<Config> ** Message: failed to render default audio sink from gconf
Any idea how to resolve this? I thought rhythmbox does run with gstreamer-0.8... _________________ Config - caught by a chronic disease called tuxmania.... |

i've always had problems with gstreamer so i've been using the xine backend for rhythmbox and totem. to compile using the xine backend, just add -gstreamer and xine to your USE flags. that should probably fix your problems |

I think I've figured out what the problem is. Both totem and rhythmbox (0.6. still rely on gstreamer-0.6.4 and not 0.8. I installed the oss-plugin 0.6.4 and then totem would start but not play anything. I would probably have to reemerge the whole gstreamer-plugins package for 0.6.4... I'll just switch over to rhythmbox 0.7.x when ebuilds are available. It supports gstreamer-0.8
Thanks for the reply though _________________ Config - caught by a chronic disease called tuxmania.... |
