I'm trying to figure out the following strange thing....
Just got a new sata disk (samsung sp1213C) which I partitioned and copied everything from my previous disk. Now, each time xawtv is running, and I have a large disk access (>12M/s) my machine freezes!
This didint occur before with the pata disk, and doesnt occur when I watch tv through tvtime!
I'm running gentoo-sources 2.4.25, but the same thing happens with kernel 2.6.4.
I have upgraded xawtv to the latest version, changed the pci slot for my tv tuner card, made sure that there are no irq conflicts between libata and bttv, nothing...
Anyone can give a hint on what mght be going on here? the new disk is formated with reiserfs (the old one was ext3), maybe tvtime which eats up half of my cpu doesnt allow for the same large disk access? Dont know...
Thanks,
MrZammler |

Does it only happen with XawTV or with any large disk access?
If its any large disk access, what's your motherboard's chipset? Nforce2 ones can have problems (easily fixable though). Just checking, cuz i know I had freezes like that that bugged the heck out of me and the problem was simple. _________________ Get Gentoo icons: http://boxturtleme.2ya.com/gentoo-icons.xml

Should have said it before... it's a KT600 chipset.
It only happens when xawtv is on.... Tried acpi=off, no change.
Damn stuff, the mobo is an ASUS A7V600-X, I've had many probs with it... |

Must have something to do with the fact that xawtv uses the overlay mode, which causes PCI to PCI transfers, which in turn causes buggy damn chipsets like the VIA to hang... |
