Ok, I'm TRYING to install gentoo. I WANT to use teh instructions found here:
http://lists.gentoo.org/pipermail/gentoo-user/2002-March/005549.html
My cd-rom doesn't boot the cd, but it reads it. I'm using winxp, and I want to use genttoo on another pc. How do I install tom's thing if I don't have a dos prompt?
secondly, WTF does:
Boot from the linux floppy, run fdisk to make your disk partitions,
and run mke2fs to build a filesystem on at least one of them. Mount
that partition on /mnt, mount the cdrom on /cdrom, and then copy the
kernel and rescue.gz files to /mnt. Now, unmount /mnt and /cdrom and
boot from the grub boot diskette as above, specifying the appropriate
disk and partition via the "root" command.
THAT mean?
I'm installing gentoo because mandrake is sucking. |
