Transport Tycoon Deluxe! ... I've spent more time playing that game than any other, and I'm still not sick of it.

It's especially wonderful now that there's TTDPatch with tons of neat hacks added on and Windows support for even more enjoyment.

I must also mention Rise of the Triad (aka: ROTT). Way ahead of it's time, and quite possibly the most fun I've ever had deathmatching (original Quake comming in a close second).

There's an Xcom clone in portage (ufo-ai) that seems decent.

Funny enough, my favorite game is America's Army. I think I am just addicted. It probably helps that I play with a bunch of my friends from the Army and we've got the real teamwork thing down.

battlefield 1942, if they had a native linux port I would still play it. I own a copy, but I have moved to linux native gaming with the advent of ut2k4. I will not use wine for personal reasons.

Civilization 3 and it's Conquests expansion pack.

I've been a Civ fan since the original. Ah, fond memories of coming home from school and playing Civ.

Other games i loved were the amazing adventure Alone in the dark and the originals Worms.

My list would be:

1. X-com 1-3. Best games ever. EVER.
2. Trasport Tycoon. The best "sim" game, still hugely replayable even after 10 or so years
3. System Shock series. Doom and co's atmosphere is laughable compared to these.
4. Every single Lucasarts adventure up to Monkey Island 3. Captured the essence of gaming, enjoyment and fun.
5. X-wing and Tie fighter. Excellent space simulators, and very much in the star wars spirit.
6 Superhero League of Hoboken. Not so well known, but by far the funniest RPG game created.
7 Warcraft series. One of the first rts games and the best world created for such a game.

As you can see, most of the games in my list are old. Unfortunately, new games completely lack any spirit or new elements to keep players hooked up. The only thing they care is completely realistic shadows using ati 14000 and nvidia 25000000 cards, that noone notices when smacking the bad guys anyway :(

EDIT: Just so another poster mentioning AITD series, truly unique and atmospheric games as well. Having clowns and zombies jumping up to you in chilling atmosphere is excellent :)

For PSX:
Tekken and Bushido Blade 2;
For PC:
Warcraft III, GTA: Vice City, FIFA 2004, FFVIII, Ultima Online was much fun, DAoC is fun, even The Sims! Fallout, of course, Diablo... ummm... ah sure... America's Army, UT2004 (demo so far - still cool), Rainbox Six, Delta Force: Black Hawk Down... Linux is also a cool game, you know... got more on the list, I guess. :)

My all time favorite is still Descent 2. I had the most fun playing that game both single and multi player. It took some skill, not just point and shoot (though you could do that if you had the right weapon).

All-Time Favorites:

1. Civilization (if I had to choose, I'd say Civ 3: Conquests is the best in the series)
2. Doom
3. Starcraft
4. Ultima (UO in particular, but 3-7 were all pretty good, although I only ever finished 6)
5. Might & Magic: World of Xeen
6. X-Com: UFO Defense
7. Megaman (Megaman X in particular)
8. Legend of Zelda (Link to the Past being my favorite, Ocarina coming in second to it)
9. Unreal Tournament 1
10. Wing Commander (2 being my favorite)

Current favorites:

1. Civilization 3: Conquests
2. Neverwinter Nights
3. Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
4. Ultima Online
5. Quake 3 Arena

My addictions:

Championship Manager 2 '96-'97 (playable in dosemu, slow in dosbox)
Transport Tycoon Deluxe (DOS version playable in dosemu, not in dosbox. Windows version works in Wine/WineX)
    Need For Speed 2 SE / 3 / 4 (haven't tried Wine/WineX)
Day of Defeat (playable in Wine/WineX)
    Counter-Strike (playable in Wine/WineX)

Really sucks not having 1 native game in this list, oh well...

EDIT: Just tried OpenTTD, and it rocks, so it will replace the original TTD and I now have one native game in my list. ;)

Championship Manager Series (I've played it from the original ver)
Enemy Territory
Quake Team Fortress
MyLink/Uplink

(All of which are either native to linux or run acceptably under wine)

Uhm, these are the only games I really play anymore.

Shiver you FPS gamers! [shakes his fist]

Last fps I really played was original Doom.
[/fist shaking]

Lately I've been playing EUII, HOI and Victoria. They're strategy games from Paradox.

If you're into strategy games then check them out.

I was just today browsing this forum for Linux games and was amazed about few games. Well, I've not tried them so far but they at least look good. But there's so much more in a good game than just looks.

Let's see what good games there are...

Civ I, II and III:
It's alwasy lot's of fun to start but it gets boring and tedious after awhile.
Same applies to MOO series. I prolly like MOO 2 best of the series.

Some good games in no particular order:
Wing Commander's
X-wing
Tie-fighter
Battlehawks 1942
Battle of britain
Secret weapons of the luftwaffe
Ultima Underworld & II
Baldurs Gate & II
Ice Wind Dale
Morrowind
Warcraft I
Diablo II
Star control II
Ufo series
Mech Commander series: Goddamnd they're short!
Elite II
Caesar III to Pharaoh, the city building games

I guess that's just fraction of good games there are... :)

My most favorite games were the Sierra Adventure Games (ie Kings Quest, Space Quest, etc...). I really miss that genre. I wish they would bring it back, but even if they did, it wouldn't be the same.
