xorg emerge might not have given me xkb config files?

I first emerged xorg-x11 on my home test computer, which I use to try to break things . This computer had Gnome 2.6 installed. I unmerged xfree, then emerged xorg-x11. One thing I noticed was that I had to update some 200+ xkb config files afterwards using etc-update.

So now I've installed xorg-x11 on my work laptop, which has both KDE 3.2 and Gnome 2.6 installed. I expected to have to update all of the xkb files on this machine as well, but when I ran etc-update, there were only a few configuration files to update.

Did I miss something? xorg runs just fine on my laptop, except that I've lost ~40 fps on glxgears.
