ich hab grad versucht unter gentoo mit adsl ins internet zu kommen
und krieg en timeout und weiß net warum
ich hab in der /etc/conf.d/net
iface_eth0="up"
eingestellt
dann emerge rp-pppoe
und den adsl-setup ausgeführt und meinen benutzernamen und passwort eingetragen aber irgendwie funktioniert es net. |

Der Kernel ist auch richtig konfiguriert, oder?
Network device support --->
<*> PPP (point-to-point protocol) support
<*> PPP support for async serial ports
<*> PPP support for sync tty ports
Das und der Treiber für die Netzwerkkarte muss aktiviert sein.

Der Treiber muss im Kernel aktiviert oder als Modul eingestellt sein. Bei Module: insmod treibername, wenn komplett aktiviert musst du nichts machen...
2. Tipp: Mach vielleicht nochmal adsl-setup durch, vielleicht hast du dich irgendwo vertippt.

irgendwo im forum gabs mal posts, in denen leute behauptet haben,
sie bekämen grundsätzlich solche timeouts, wenn sie die ppptreiber
im kernel einkompiliert hatten. empfehlung war damals, diese als module zu
kompilieren, aber durchsuch deswegen einfach mal das forum.

ich hab jetzt alles nochmal eingestellt auch den adsl-setup
und es funktioniert immer noch net |

hast du das ganze mal mit ppp-modulen probiert?

ich bekomme übrigens auch timeouts beim einwählen, wenn ich alles im
kernel einkompiliert habe statt als module.
