Hello there!
During the last few days I installed Gentoo Linux on my new laptop. This was my first laptop Linux installation ever and maybe this is the reason why I had som problems with it. In the end I installed a 2.4.25-gentoo kernel via genkernel. This worked all fine but I've got a problem with the power management system. Because I read a few bad things about suspend to RAM and hibernation I didn't even try to get this running. But what would be really important is a battery status with the Gnome Battery Charge Monitor applet (or something similar). When I start the applet, it only shows an empty battery with 0% charge and a red ! beside it.
ACPI is started automatically (rc-update add acpid boot) and the connection between the applet and the acpid is available (when acpid is not started, the applet pops up a error message).
Has someone got an idea how to get this battery state thing on work?
System:
2.4.25-gentoo kernel (via genkernel)
Gnome 2.4.1
acpid-1.0.2
IBM R40 2722 B3G notebook
Thanks!

What about the ACPI support in the kernel? Did you load the battery module or compile it into the kernel? _________________ KDE |

Hi!
Thanks for your help! I found the problem: genkernel only enabled battery support as a module and I thought it is loaded automatically with the acpid.
An easy
is what I had to do
Thanks!
