Anyone had any luck getting this working? I have tried to use the package from gdesklets.gnomedesktop.org and i've tried emerge desklet-starterbar. Neither seems to work, I'm beginning to wonder if it's just an issue with Gnome 2.6, but I don't know cause I didn't use starterbar in 2.4.

Code:
squeegy@mars ~/ $ gdesklets /usr/share/gdesklets/Displays/StarterBar/starterbar.display

** (gdesklets:9608): WARNING **: `GtkTextSearchFlags' is not an enum type
Could not connect to gnome-session. GNOME session management will not be
available for this application.

Then when I try and start gdesklets it gives me an error about the sensor and and error about the .display file. I have indeed installed the sensor for the version i grabbed from the gdesklets site. And I assume that emerging it also installed it in /usr/share/gdesklets/Sensors, because the file is there.

what version of the starterbar desklet are you using. If it is 0.30 you also need pyxdg

I use starterbar and it has been working fine for me.

I get the same message at the top as you do regarding gnome-session but I am not usually in gnome....it doesn't seem to keep it from working

How did you fix the problem? I emerged pyxdg and am still getting the same error (0.30 Starterbar)

I just ran emerge pyxdg and it worked after that.
