I downloaded a tar from the net but when i got to unpack it I get this

# tar -xvjpf stage?-*.tar.bz2

tar (child) stage?-*.tar.bz2: Cannot open : No such file or directory

I tried putting in the actual tar name and came up with the same thing

Where is the tarball located? If it's not in the current directory you have to give it a full directory path.

root@xzvf ~ # ls -al |grep stage

the command is "ls -al | grep stage"

the root@xzvf ~ # is his prompt.

No clue, I followed the instructions on the PPC online install to a T

Seems like they leave out a few key details :x

cd /mnt/gentoo

Then went to lynx and downloaded the tarbell.

No but i restarted my comp and now all my crap is gone :(

Im gonna start over tommorow out at school so I can actully have the hnadbook in front of me instead of just running inbetweeb rooms with my laptop. Thanx for your help. Im sure you'll see me posting again tommorow :D
