mmm,
Quiet confusing:
As seen on freshmeat:
License :: Freely Distributable , OSI Approved :: GNU General Public License (GPL)
The gentoo linux license on freshmeat says - Freely Distributable
now can we know whats freely distributable and whats gpl in gentoo ?
Is portage GPL or not ?
Can we know whats the property of Gentoo Inc and whats public ??
just a lil curious chap who doesnt like M$ |

All of Gentoo freely distrubutale so long as you follow the terms of the GPL. Gentoo [bold]does not[/bold] include the software packages themselves.
- The ebuilds are property of Gentoo unless stated otherwise, and are all under the GPL
- Portage is under the GPL and is the property of Gentoo.
- Software packages belong to whoever wrote them and are distributed per their own license
- And Linux is a trademark of Linus Trovalds
Of course IANAL and I could be wrong. |
