I started my compile about 7:00 am this morning, and now, nearly nine hours later, it's still compiling. What's up? I'm running a XP-1800 with 512MB RAM and a WD 60G harddrive; plenty of speed! Is this normal, or should I just kill it? If I do, won't I have to do an awful lot of cleanup? Thanks! |

That does seem a little long, but what else had to compile to get kde3.1b dependencies solved? Was X ready to go anf up to date? etc etc... Did you do an 'emerge kde -p' before starting the process to see what was going to be compiled? If it is compiling away successfully, why would you want to stop it? |

If you log in on another console and do a "emerge --pretend kde", what list do you get? This way maybe you could see on what package it "hangs". |

It was an upgrade from a fully installed 3.0.4; whatever the problem was, it's done now. Thanks for your input! |
