I followed the UML installation manual but things didn't work out as I wanted. I can't boot, it just fails at one moment:
Code:
...
pty: 256 Unix98 ptys configured
RAMDISK driver initialized: 16 RAM disks of 4096K size 1024 blocksize
loop: loaded (max 8 devices)
Using anticipatory io scheduler
nbd: registered device at major 43
PPP generic driver version 2.4.2
SLIP: version 0.8.4-NET3.019-NEWTTY (dynamic channels, max=256).
Universal TUN/TAP device driver 1.5 (C)1999-2002 Maxim Krasnyansky
blkmtd: version $Revision: 1.5 $
blkmtd: error: missing `device' name

NET: Registered protocol family 2

What should I try? For your information my kernel version:
Linux version 2.6.3-uml1-1um (root@gentoo) (gcc versie 3.3.2 20031218 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.2-r5, propolice-3.3-7)) #1 Sun Apr 11 19:52:44 CEST 2004
Everything else worked out pretty fine, I need my umls

Thanks for any help on this great thing!

Solved this one: you need to patch your uml kernel according to http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=user-mode-linux-devel&m=107837589627745&w=2 and then everything works. Should I file a bug for this patch? Or do we just wait until it get's patched by the uml devs?
