Hi everyone,
First of all, sorry for the stupid question... I'm sure I will be a laughing stock after this....
I just bought an HP Visualize C3000 workstation, and it did not come with a keyboard, video, or mouse.
I would like to boot up and play, but not sure what to do.
I have a usb mouse, and keyboard, so if the HP uses usb for those devices, I'm ok.
However, the video card seems to have a DVI interface, but not the same kind that comes on my newer video cards. I assume it is an older DVI, since I'm sure I have seen this connector before for old flat panel monitors.
I'm impatient, and want to boot up now just to see if it works, and I believe it uses industry standard PCI expansion slots. So I was wondering if I could just pop in a PCI VGA video card to see how thigs are working at the console level, anyway. Or, am I going to hunt down an old (or worse yet, proprietary) DVI adaptor?
Also, USB mouse and keyboard, right?
Just wanted to make sure before I did something stupid like blowing up a 64-bit PA-RISC machine.
I'm eager for any information, even if it is irrelivant to the question(s) I have asked, so please post.
Thank you.
BTW. I believe it has HP-UX 10 installed. I didn't get any install media, so I am wary of making any major modifications unless I can re-install or back-up my disk somehow. I was thinking about using dd to copy the disk to another machine for safe keeping in case I did something crazy, but the disk is 9 gigs, and I'm sure most is wasted space. Any ideas on a conservative way to back up, or at least have install media without coughing up $$+$$+$$?

I'm sure no one really cares, but:
I found out that pa-risc linux has support for the ATI Mach64-GTB card (one which I have in another machine). With this in mind, I cracked open a PC and pulled out an ATI card. Then I removed the Visualize FX card, and put the PCI card in a "primary video" slot. And proceeded to boot up (in the hopes that the card would be supported well enough to display a POST or a console or something.
Nope. Nothing. Fortunately nothing blew up. I bought the EVCM2VGAF adapter, and have to wait about a week for it to arrive. Then hopefully I can boot up and try some stuff out.
Anyone know some good applications that run on HP-UX 10?
