samba, smb4k, firestarter, oh my!

As always I need a little help. I have configured samba with my workgroup using ksambaplugin, then after realizing that even with the option selected firestarter would not properly allow smb traffic I made my two other hosts trusted hosts and it works fine (I know not the most secure option).

while lan://localhost/ doesn't show my win98 box I can access them by adding its hostname/ip address to the url (eg lan://localhost/192.168.1.10)

However smb4k does not show any other hosts after a scan and they do not show up on a search. could I have misconfigured something?
