I would like to try and install Gentoo on my laptop, and use my wireless network to do it. I have a Linksys 802.11g router and pcmcia card. On the router, I have changed the SSID, enabled 128-bit WEP, disabled SSID broadcast, and enabled MAC address filtering. I am using Earthlink as my cable Internet provider. What would be the best pcmcia driver module to load for this kind of card. as it stands, when I boot the LiveCD it doesn't recognize that I even have a wireless card. I can't see that there is anything Linksys-specific under /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/net or any other /lib/modules/*/net directories, so which modules will be the closest match? Thanks in Advance. _________________ --

If at first you don't succeed, you're not using Linux |

Most Linksys wireless cards use Broadcom chipsets which are totally unsupported under Linux. It is possible to use the Windows drivers along with ndiswrapper, but it may be difficult to set this up from KNOPPIX. |

Feather Linux is a remaster of Knoppix that includes ndiswrapper, so you might have some luck installing from there.
