|
|
Hello all,
I've acquired an E-MU Launch Pad MIDI controller that I'd like to get working with an SBLive 5.1 (emu10k1) souncard under ALSA on gentoo, but I've had no luck so far.
I've all relevant midi compiled into my kernel, and ALSA is reporting MIDI devices, as shown by aconnect
Code: |
$ aconnect -iol
client 0: 'System' [type=kernel]
0 'Timer '
1 'Announce '
client 62: 'Midi Through' [type=kernel]
0 'Midi Through Port-0'
client 64: 'Virtual Raw MIDI 0-0' [type=kernel]
0 'VirMIDI 0-0 '
client 65: 'Virtual Raw MIDI 0-1' [type=kernel]
0 'VirMIDI 0-1 '
client 66: 'Virtual Raw MIDI 0-2' [type=kernel]
0 'VirMIDI 0-2 '
client 67: 'Virtual Raw MIDI 0-3' [type=kernel]
0 'VirMIDI 0-3 '
client 72: 'Rawmidi 1 - EMU10K1 MPU-401 (UART)' [type=kernel]
0 'EMU10K1 MPU-401 (UART)'
client 73: 'Emu10k1 WaveTable' [type=kernel]
0 'Emu10k1 Port 0 '
1 'Emu10k1 Port 1 '
2 'Emu10k1 Port 2 '
3 'Emu10k1 Port 3 '

And can monitor /dev/snd/midiC1D0 with gmidimon, but I see no messages. Either nothing seems to be transmitted (ie a hardware issue, possible, but doubtful) or something is wrong with my configuration. Has anyone managed to have controller generated midi messages passed thru to ALSA, and if so, any suggestions?
Thanks! |

So I just installed gmidimon to see. My midi-device is a USB
dongle thingy and I set the device to midiC2D0 even though
it lists other non-existant midi devices and then run. It works,
so firstly are you sure you hooked it up to the correct midi
device? If you see the device under aconnect then it should
be working just fine. HTH. |

Woody,
Thanks for the reply. I believe it's hooked up to the correct midi device: /dev/snd/midiC1D0 and no results. I've tried [/dev/midi, /dev/midi1, /dev/snd/midiC[01]D[012]] with no results... did you have to run any specific aconnect command to have the input be seen by gmidimon, or perhaps any midi specific module settings? |

No its not using the alsa-sequencer at all. This is rawmidi from
what I can tell. Look under /dev/snd/ for possible midi device
names to be sure. Then I select that and just run. If you
want a similar program that uses the alsaseq then try aseqview. |
