I'm using Cups, Foomatic & a USB Epson Stylus Photo 1280
Everything worked once upon a time, but I've since upgraded motherboard, cpu, software, etc.
cat some-file > /dev/usb/lp0 Works as expected
foomatic-configure -s cups -p Epson-Stylus_Photo_1280 -c file:/dev/usb/lp0 -n Epson -d gimp-print -L /dev/usb/lp0
Configuring via foomatic-configure seems to work but print attempts fail. Same results using -c usb:/dev/usb/lp0 or -L /dev/lp0 (which is a symlink to /dev/printers/0)
CUPS Web says "Media tray empty!"
CUPS error log says "Unknown device: stp"
and 'Process dying with "Possible error on renderer command line or PostScript error. Check options.", exit stat: 3'
Configuring via CUPS web interface seems to work but print attempts result in ink waste: an all black page prints.
Much googling has resulted in more eyestrain than enlightenment. I had to boot into Windows just to print a document (and rule out hardware), please help! |
