I use gmane to get all the relavent gentoo mailing lists in newsgroup format for my convienence. I'd like to be able to post responses to question/comments but I'm required to be a subscriber. I have no problem subscribing, I just don't want to receieve all that extra mail when I get it through gmane in a format I prefer. Is there a way to do a quiet subscription such that my email address is on the list (so I can post) but I won't get any email? The mailing list FAQ doesn't cover this. |

Don`t know about the gmane list features, but you could simply subscribe and set up your spamfilter to delete every message coming from this list.
(Just a thought) |

Indeed I could. This would generate much un-needed network traffic. Is there not a quiet mode or the like for this sort if thing? I can't be the first person to want to do this. |

Closest thing I can think of would be digest mode: Quote: | All of our lists also have a corresponding digest list. Digest lists will mail a single email to you every couple of days, rather than individual emails for each post. Send an empty email to the following addresses to subscribe and unsubscribe from mailing lists respectively:
listname-digest-subscribe@gentoo.org
listname-digest-unsubscribe@gentoo.org |
