Hi

My brother is coming from a travel, and he will bring me a DVD bruner.. but I only have 6h to chose a model that works fine with Gentoo / Linux.

Anyone that have DVD burner can say what is your model and capabilities to me?

DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM ??
What DVD burner i can use like a hard drive, and make home DVD that can be played on DVD players?

what about this model LG 4081B? what capabilites this model have? work on linux?

another models please...

Pioneer's DVDR/W are always a safe bet. A06 or A07 (DVR-106 or DVR-107)

I have a LiteOn, it works well in gentoo.

Optowrite works fine for me. It's nice and it works!

I have the LG4040. No Problems so far. Not the fastest burner ever (especialy for CDs) but a stable on. Eats all kinds of media (as long as you stay with single layer ;) ). No problem with linux. Go buy it!

mines shit, to picky about the media meaning i have 25 coasters at £1 a go im not happy. the pioneers are suposed to be good
