can't enable Remote Control plugin in Gaim 0.76

I cannot check the box Remote Control plugin in Gaim 0.76, unless I am root. I want to use gaim-remote to intercept aim links. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Fits the description of my gaim-remote to a tee.

Solutions anybody? I've searched everywhere without finding a thing. It's not just the new version either, mine has been like that since i first tried enabling it a couple versions ago.

Alright, I found the solution thanks to a nice fellow in the #gaim channel on freenode. Delete all of the files related to gaim in your /tmp/ folder. I cannot remember the exact name of the files.

The files are named something like [username].gaim or something like this.
