A fast (but furious :P) solution could be to wait a couple of days, redo an emerge sync and reinstall.... otherwise search in the bug section

Ok so I found in the bug section one guy changed the make.conf file to i586 insted of i686. Does this only matter for the stage1? What issues might I have putting this back to i686 after stage1 is done? Or am i just stuck at i586 code?

edit: Doh, didn't realise the CPU I was using wasn't a true 686, even though everything else has allways says it is. This is all fixed now.
