I've setup two DistCC Servers on the Network to help bootstrap a client. They both have the DistCC Daemon running. I've setup the client according to the documentation, but when I run the bootstrap.sh it doesn't look like any work is being sent to the two DistCC Servers. Is this normal? Anything that I could use to diagnose what the problem might be? Doest DistCC only work fram stage2 and higher? I've read through the forums and haven't been able find a answer to my quesions... any help would be appreciated |

I have used distcc to bootstrap a couple of times. Not every package will distribute, but it does work. Using distcc this early in the installation requires a couple of extra steps compared to installing distcc after Gentoo is installed. Take a look at section 3 of the Gentoo Distcc Documentation. |

I did follow section 3 of the documentation, however I'm using the GUI Montitor on the 2 servers to determine whether or not work is being done by them. My question is, if some work gets sent to one of the two servers, will it remain on the DistCC Monitor GUI or will it be cleared off of the list once the jobs been processed? |

I have never tried the distcc monitor, so I can't tell you. I normally just look at the blinking lights on my switch . Distcc also shows up when I run "top". |

Neither of the two appear to be doing any work for DistCC. Any idea what else I could try? When you add distcc to your make.conf file does it look like this? FEATURES="distcc" or do I just add distcc to the USE string? |

Is it true that the DistCC monitors only monitor Outgoing compilations? For example, if I have a client sending compilation jobs to the server, I'd like to monitor what jobs the server is currently working, do any of the monitors do this? |
