Hello,
how i can install gentoo 2004.0 with a x86-livecd) on an s-ata drive?!
the motherboard is the abit kv7 (kt600)
which kernel i have to boot, with which options?
an who are the devices named (i heared there are diverences between the kernels)?
what i need in my later kernel?

ps: i will use kernel 2.6.5 (vanilla)

Use the smp kernel. Also, when you boot from the cd, you first harddrive will be either hdc or hdd, but when you reboot into your installed kernel, the drive letters will change to hdg or hdh. _________________ Your sig is better than my sig.

i post this only for other people, who search in the gentoo forum:

but if u use a 2.4 kernel u will get the same problems like dirtyboy with the devices
