|
|
Hello,
I'm experiencing a really odd thing with samba. When I do ps -C smbd I get process id (random example) 1703 (and this is also the pid shown in /var/run/samba/smbd.pid); but I can't use samba! If I start to restart it through /etc/init/samba restart, I get: start-stop-daemon: warning: failed to kill 1705: No such process.
The strange thing is that (even when I delete the file /var/run/samba/smbd.pid), there always seems to bee a difference of 2 between the pid shown by the command ps -C smbd and the pid shown by /etc/init.d/samba restart,... .
The weird thing is that this error only seems to happen at initial startup (but when I kill the daemon, do /etc/init.d/samba zap and restart, it works fine, but I don't wan't to restart it manually everytime).
Kind regards,
A belgian Gentoo user |

Same situation here, I think mine has mostly to do that sometimes I am on dhcp lease when using samba server from my machine. _________________ Happy Gentoo Convert |
