I've set up Windows to print to cups via IPP. I wanted to do this with the printer's original driver, so the other PC could control the quality (CUPS's driver doesn't seem to let the user do that). I didn't manage to do this by just changing the mime.types file to allow octet-stream (it complained about me not having ESP ghostscript, which I do), so I just added another printer:
psc2110 is my normal printer, using the hpoj driver
psc2110-raw is a raw printer.
Both of these are directed to ptal:/mlc:usb:PSC_2100_Series. It works well: I've tried cross-queueing (queuing from each computer while the physical printer is busy with the other computer's request), and it works well.
So everything is working. I guess it would be better if I could somehow have windows add -oraw, but this seems to be pretty much the same. Still - is this asking for trouble? _________________ Tactless
