Hi everydody,
I've got some problems with my unreal tournament installation:
The game is much too bright, even when I put the brightness in the lower position. However, when I restart the game, the menu is very dark until I lunch a game.
The other problem is that the menu is very choppy when it searches for multiplayer games. The search is very slow, and so is the program. The lowest ping I could have is around 1000...
I'm running on the 2.6.5 kernel, with the 5**** nvidia drivers (the lastest, downloaded from the official site)
Can someone help me? |

Changing to OpenGL doesn't solve the brightness problem for me. Anyway few months ago when I installed UT I managed to solve it. Don't remember how
I cannot help you with the netplay problem, sorry. Be sure no other programs are using the conexion. _________________ La PDA de tungsteno |

When I tried this game was the only program which used internet. I can't understand why the program becomes choppy when searching for internet games, I can't even clik on a game, it's too slow.. |

Game works perfectly for me.
About playing online, every time i do the search thing the game locks up, this might have something to do with the firewall or maybe not, i dunno.
To fix it, when i want to play online i do the following:
1. run the game from a terminal window, not the menu
2. Press alt-enter to make it run in a window
3. press ctrl-g to stop it from capturing the mouse
4. start the multiplayer search.
5. when the game locks up, i send a ctrl-c to the terminal and the game continues. this might happen a few times
6. press ctrl-g and alt-enter once i've connected to a server, and it's all good
give that a go, if it doesn't work then good luck finding a fix _________________ I am SPAM, hear me roar.

Regarding the dark problem, the OpenGL drivers that shipped with UT had problems, for Windows they released an updated OpenGL driver shortly after with performance and gamma enhancements. I doubt that works on Linux since it's a .dll and why use it when there's a much better driver.
Try utglr

There are x86 source codes at the bottom, you can try compiling it. _________________ Wallpapers:

Thanks for your answers,
As I said, when I changed the rendre method to OpenGL, the brightness problem disapeared, but I think that i'll try this enhanced OpenGL renderer
The problem changed for the internet games: the pings are now goods but I always find just 6 or 7 games, never more. It's kinda strange because I haven't changed anything |

There should be over 2400 servers...
Maybe UT for linux still uses the old masterservers?
MasterServerAddress=unreal.epicgames.com MasterServerPort=27900
MasterServerAddress=master0.gamespy.com MasterServerPort=27900
MasterServerAddress=master.mplayer.com MasterServerPort=27900
If it doesn't work, I think pressing F1 cycles through them... _________________ Wallpapers:
