NCurses Compile Failing Please Help!

I'm trying to get gentoo (re)compiled and I'm doing emerge system from a stage2 and now that it's gotten to sys-libs/ncurses, it's giving me this:

:undefined reference to 'operator new (unsigned long)'
ld returned error 1 ....

Has anyone encounteredt his before/have any suggestions?

Sorry for the short post, I'm at a machine without a working mouse, makes copying and pasting hard....
