Great system!

Hello!

I just wanted to share the great feeling I got after installing Gentoo for the first time.

Its the kind of system ive been looking for. Ive been playing with other distros before, but I have always been wanting something pure and simple to learn from. This is it.

I installed from a stage 1 tarball and everything worked perfectly. I had some minor problem with grub, but after finding the errors, the system booted up. It said it couldnt load net drivers, but since I had just gone through the process of compiling the kernel myself, I knew how to solve it. So I just added support for my card in the kernel, recompiled, linked to the new kernel in grub and this time everything worked perfectly.

I want to give a big thanks to the devs for this distro, and the authors for writing great docs. Everything has been perfect so far.
