I have a problem that i cannot cope up with. When i try to play an xvid avi file under mplayer (both 1.0_pre1 and 0.91) that makes use of the information written in overlaymem option in XF86Config (i use neomagic card on ibm 600x laptop), i get corrupt image. When i scale down the image, to a smaller resolution, it plays ok. The situation happens only on -vo xv. -vo x11 plays the video correctly but too slow 8]
I have tried following ebuilds to solve the problem:
mplayer 0.91, 1.0_pre1_r1
ffmpeg 0.4.7_pre20030624, 0.4.7
X 4.3.0-r2, 4.3.99.12
While searching for a sollution, i came across such situations in case of G4 notebooks and mga graphic cards, but none of those worked for me.
Hardware problem is to be excluded, as i ran slackware 8.1 before switching to the best distro ever ....
I'll be glad if someone would have some hints, or came across the same problem. _________________ qubix |

I always use SDL, -vo sdl.
Have you tried that?

uh.... sdl does the same thing as it uses xv. When you force it not to use xv, it goes through x11 and the problem does not appear, but i can't get a decent framerate then.
maybe it is a bug in the X itself or ffmpeg. imho mplayer is out of the question (i'm running the 0.92 ebuild now). I've tried other xvid decoders also and the problem remains... so the X are to blame.... imho, and the neomagic driver.
Maybe someone came across the same problem and got it solved....
Thanks for help !!!
sorry for my english )) _________________ qubix |
