Hi!
I want to copy a svcd. I tried it with MacOSX and Gentoo. No success at all. The only way to get a vcd copied is with toast (but only dublicating a CD; an image to the HD yields to trash).
Some vcds can be copied via finder (.dat-files); the troublemakers are the .mpg ones.
Here is what I tried after emerging vcdimager:
vcdimager --iso-volume-label="MY_TEST_VCD" /mnt/cdrom/mpegav/avseq01.mpg
++ WARN: initializing libvcd 0.7.20 [linux-gnu/powerpc]
++ WARN:
++ WARN: this is the UNSTABLE development branch!
++ WARN: use only if you know what you are doing
++ WARN: see http://www.hvrlab.org/~hvr/vcdimager/ for more information
++ WARN:
**ERROR: fread (): Input/output error
Whatever I do it always ends with an I/O error. As well as for example dd.
I was able to copy the same svcd with my debian desktop. I used vcdxrip, wich is usually part of vcdimager. I wonder why there isn´t vcdxrip within the gentoo-package.
On the MacOSX side I had the same errors with vcdimager. I tried out plenty of other (gnu vcd, mpeg-tools, etc) programs. All the same.
After all I would say it has something to do with the CDROM, but it is possible to read those files with toast or just watch them with vlc.
Does anyone brought home the vcd-bacon?
Next thing is an unexpected shutdown, when closing the lid while running on power pack. I usually close the lid and work via ssh. Why is it only possible with PSU?
Is there a way to mount a hfsplus partition on bootup? I mean I have to do the hpmount-procedure newly to gain rw-access after every reboot/start.
Thanks again for helping me!!
Cheers,
h. |

BTW soon to be released 0.7.2 of VLC has some important bugfixes for linux PPC. Should work a lot better now. |
