Have you read the gentoo printing howto in the docs? Are you trying to print to a windows box or another nix one? Have you set a password for the user in samba?
Provide more info and maybe we can help

Yes I've red the printing how-to, I'm trying to print to a windows box. The exact probem is that I haven't set a samba pwd for my users and don't know how to do it... |

simply put, you just run the smbpasswd program with as option the username, like this:

i actually got my printer working last night using samba and cups. once samba is up and running all i needed to do was point cups to it. using the cups web interface i added a printer and chose "windows printer via samba" and then the device uri was "smb://j-dogg/Lexmark" where j-dogg is the name of the computer (i struggled the most at this part because i kept using the computer's ip, which didn't work) and Lexmark is the shared name of the printer. you'll need to of course share the printer. mine was connected to my roommates winxp box and shared as Lexmark. after that it worked perfectly.
