Ok i'm going to reinstall my gentoo it is currently not working.
Now i already have the boot, swap and ext3 partitions set up.
Do i only format ext3 one (the one with all my files) I am currently running it alongside windows so i reallly don't want it to @@@@ up. If i only format ext3 will i lose grub and boot stuff.
Is there anyway i can install through knoppix useing my other cdrom cause i don't want to print out manual. Or do i have to do it with the manual printed off.
What is the format command??
Please reply soon. |

Depends on what filesystem you want.
mkfs.ext3 /dev/<hard drive>
or
mke2fs -j /dev/<hard drive>
to format the specified drive with ext3. |

| You can install through Knoppix, and I believe the install docs explain how (or at least they did when I installed). Or you can just use links2 on the 2nd console (Alt+F2) to access the install docs. I prefer the second option personally, but it doesn't matter which you prefer as long as it works for you. _________________ What is the best [insert-type-of-program-here]? |
