|

I've been working on the problem that a LOT of people seem to have with alsa -- everything is configured correctly, all channels unmuted and still no sound. I've found a pattern. People with sound working seem to have 'Wave' controls in their amixer output. I personally have no wave controls in my alsamixer.
Under windows I do have one, and if I turn it off I get no output.
Possibly something is wrong here and a wave control is needed for sound? I'm going to be looking into it, if I find a solution I'll post it here. If anyone knows how to add the 'Wave' control post it here, otherwise I'm gonna have to find it. |

I had the same problem and solved it by unmuting the las column, " external amplifier"
in alsamixer, maybe this will help,
oh and my problem started when I upgraded from gentoo-dev-sources.2.6.3 to 2.6.5 _________________ thesis. |

Unfortunately my problem isn't that simple. Believe me I've tried muting/unmuting everything. When I boot up there is a pop from my speakers when the sound is loaded, I know everything works. The only explanation is something I can't control is being muted or turned down or theres some sort of config file left over from my old 2.4 kernel and drivers I had emerged that is interferring. If I can't get it to work I'll just reformat. If that doesn't work I'm going to a new distro. |
