|
|
Hello,
I d/l'd and burned a copy of the Universal Live-CD for 2004.0 a month or so ago, and now that I'm finally getting around to installing it I was tooling along at a fairly good pace working towards a Stage 3 install. I'd unpacked the stage 3 & portage tarballs, but ran into a snag while copying over the distfiles.
Apparently something is wonky w/ either the CD or the CD drive (once upon a time long ago in a galaxy far away... whoops wrong story, anywho, I've had CDROM drives have difficulty reading install media in the past), and I get bad sector messages when trying to copy over the distfiles. Not good.
Any advice on how to proceed from this point? fdisk completed, partitions mounted, stage 3 tarball unpacked, portage unpacked. I have a fairly slow and spurious 56k line, so I'm not looking forward to d/l'ing the iso again. Regrettably, I seem to have nuked the iso from before, as it had appeared to be working like a peach up til now
TIA,
Monte |

If you still have the .iso handy and accessible you could mount it like this:
Code: | mount -o loop /path/to/LiveCD.iso /mnt/cdrom |
and go from there. _________________ http://blog.chaostrophy.org |
