|
I was making an image of my system with partimage and when it was at 41% some messages came to me. Then i tried to tar my system, and i've seen them too.
They are like that ?
Code: | hda: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hda: dma_intr: error=0x40 { UncorrectableError }, LBAsect=10892073, high=0, low=10892073, sector=1089207 |
What does it mean ? Is my hard drive dead ? (my computer is a dell laptop).
Thanks for you help. |

deluxe,
It means that an error occured close to the end of your drive.
It may mean the following:-
1. that your drive is dying
2. that your partition table is corrupt and the failed read is an attempt to read off the end of the disc.
Do an the emerge one of the smart tools that lets you read the data your drive collects on itself. _________________ Regards,

Computer users fall into two groups:-
those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail. |
