|
|
I currently run RH7.2 on HDA, I just got a 4 gig HD from my spare computer and Gentoo was recommended. My concern is that I would like to put Gentoo on HDB and not have it mess up the grub loader already in place.
Is this possible? If so should I just follow the install.faq but replace hda with hdb?
Thanks
Rastar
P.S. I have downloaded the latest version iso and dropped it to a cd that should work just fine right? |

- Yep, it is possible.
- Yes, you should just replace it in the install.faq
With Grub I'm not sure. I use Boot-us boot all linux loaders. But it should be possible to boot RH and Gentoo from one Grub installation.

Normally it does. Some people have problems booting from the CD, but a search in this forum will give you the solution may it happens to you. _________________ Box said "Requires Windows 98 or better". So I installed Linux... |

for grub, just completely ignore the grub installation instructions. Instead, edit your redhat grub configuration file and add a line like: Code: |
title=Gentoo
root (hd1,0)
kernel /boot/bzImage root=/dev/hdb1
|
of course you need to customize depending on which partition of hdb your root and boot filesystems are, but this should get you started. |
