I am running shorewall firewall on my server box witch then gos into a switch and then 2 other computers. I had a linksys router but it died, so i wanted to give this linux router thing a try, sofar its worked great. However, i have noticed that it doesnt balance the traffic load aswell as the hardware router did..

For example, with my linux router, if i am downloading at 3mbit (the top speed of my cable modem) on 1 computer, the internet is almost HALTED on my other boxes. This was not an issue when i used my hardware router, it seemed to balance the load very well, infact you can hardly tell when someone else was using the net..

There has to be a way to fix this (i mean its linux for god sake, it can do anything!)

Any help would be super, Thanks guys!

maybe you should install a qos, like wondershaper ( http://www.lartc.org/wondershaper/ ) , plus there are some instructions on the website of shorewall to integrate the wondershaper in shorewall
